Better Late Than Never – Happy 2014!

Happy New Year

Happy New Year

Well, despite being halfway through January already, as this is my first post of 2014 I would like to wish you all a very Happy and Prosperous New Year! I hope 2014 is a great year and that it brings you everything you hope for.

I love the start of a new year. By the time we get to Christmas, I can’t wait for the year to be over and for the 1st of January to arrive. For me, a new year is a chance for a fresh start but, not only does it give me the opportunity to take on new projects, I also get another chance to attempt to complete all the things I wanted to do last year but didn’t quite manage.

If I’m being honest, 2013 wasn’t really such a great year for me and, for various reasons, I didn’t achieve nearly as much as I would have liked to but that’s all in the past now and so, here’s a little update on what I’m up to this year. Obviously I’ll still be teaching singing and piano and I will continue with my writing (including blogging), and my proofreading/editing business. I’ve also made the decision to do a degree in natural sciences specialising in astronomy and planetary science. It’s something I’ve wanted to do for ages but the timing just never seemed right however, after thinking long and hard about it, I decided that there may never be a ‘right’ time and so – long story short -I start on the 1st of February. I’ll keep you posted as to how I’m getting on.

Another thing that fell by the wayside last year was finding time to be creative. So, I’m going to have my weekly Cupcakes and Cadenzas ‘Creative Wednesday’ slot where we can talk about hobbies, crafts and…well…anything and everything that can be considered creative. You can see what it’s all about by clicking here. As well as that, I am doing the Goodreads Reading Challenge again this year. I have, once again, set myself the challenge of 50 books. It’s the same number as I set in last year’s challenge but I failed miserably at that so I’m determined to succeed this year. My list will probably consist of mainly science and maths books but but hey-ho – a book’s a book.

Anyway, that’s it for now.

So, what plans and projects do you have for the New Year? Maybe you’ve decided to take on some new challenge or perhaps you simply want to finish some of the things you started last year. Whatever it is, I would love to hear about it so please feel free to leave your comments below.

Catch up with you again soon.
