10 Things to Do At Home on a Rainy Day

Rainy Day

So, we’re almost halfway through the summer and if the weather where you are has been anything like it has in the North East of Scotland you will have had more rainy days than sunny ones so, if you do find yourself stuck in the house and the weather is less than perfect, here are my ’10 Things To Do At Home On A Rainy Day’.

Rainy Day

  1. Spend some time writing out your short term and long term goals. Write down what you want to achieve; how you are going to do it; who can help you; when you want to achieve it by and how you will know when you’ve reached it.
  2. Clean out a cupboard. Pick one cupboard that really needs cleared out and spend time getting rid of everything you no longer need/want. Then pack everything that’s left back in (neatly), stand back and admire.
  3. Start a blog. Click here for hints and tips.
  4. Have some ‘me’ time. Read a book, spend time doing your hobby, give yourself a manicure/pedicure in fact do anything at all that you normally struggle to find time to do.
  5. Sort out your wardrobe. Put anything that doesn’t fit you or that you haven’t worn in in the last year into a charity pile then take it to the charity shop when the rain stops.
  6. Watch a movie. Better still watch several movies.
  7. Clear out you email in-boxes and back up your files.
  8. Try your hand at writing a short story.
  9. Bake a cake. Try out a recipe you’ve never used before.
  10. Spend time browsing StumbleUpon You’ll be amazed at what you can find there.
This, of course, is totally irrelevant if you happen to be at work on a rainy day but do keep them in mind for the next rainy weekend or holiday.
These are just a few suggestions but if you can think of anything else please feel free to share them in the comment section at the bottom of the page.
Until the next time,
Denise x

  1. It would be nice to up sticks from work and go and do one of these things 🙂
I really need a rainy day so I can have a relax for a change – I’m a busy busy bee usually and if I do get any free time I end up having a veg out and slobbing around rather than doing anything productive that I want to do (i.e. writing! oops) lol.

  2. Hi Littlewillow. Thanks for the comments. Using a rainy day for relaxing is a good thing to do and I should probably have had that in the list of 10 things 🙂 It’s not easy finding time to unwind so I’m all for it.
As far as the writing goes I think it’s a problem that we all have. You’d be amazed at the things I can find to do when I should be writing. Good luck though and lets hope we don’t get too many rainy days this summer even if it is nice to use them to relax.
